Early life stress primes sensitivity to future stress: from epigenetics to engrams

Dr. Peña earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania, working under Dr. Tracy Bale. She then worked at the National Institute for Mental Health in the Laboratory of Clinical Science headed by Dr. Dennis Murphy. She earned her PhD from Columbia University working with Dr. Frances Champagne, and was a Robin Chemers Neustein Postdoctoral Fellow at Mount Sinai with Dr. Eric Nestler. She is now an Assistant Professor in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute where she investigates the impact of early life stress on brain development and risk for psychiatric disease.
